The MTP-50M recovery vehicle is a mobile unit designed to provide technical support to the combat units operating BTR‑300А1 armored personnel carriers and PT-76M light amphibious tanks.
The vehicle ensures damaged vehicle evacuation, trouble-shooting service and assistance to the crews in labour-intensive maintenance operations required for the BTR-300А1 и PT-76М.
The additional equipment carried by the MTP-50M recovery vehicle ensures:
As compared to the base vehicle (BTR‑300А1) the following changes have been introduced in the vehicle design: introduced tools, jigs and equipment for evacuation, repair and maintenance of the vehicles; partially modified the design of the armored hull due to the introduction of the production compartment in the former troop compartment area; installed advanced periscopes; installed forced combined extract and input ventilation and additional dome lights in the production compartment; installed two extra batteries; as well as other modifications relating to the character of the tasks to be completed by the vehicle.
The MTP-50M recovery vehicle has three compartments:
Composition of the drivers and the engine compartment is similar to that of the BTR-300А1 APC.
The production compartment is introduced instead of the troop compartment in the midhull area and is used to accommodate the equipment used during troubleshooting, maintenance and vehicle servicing.
The vehicle accommodates 6 crewmembers: 3 in the drivers compartment and 3 in the production compartment.
